Tidbit Tuesday

  1. What do you do when you’re not working? I train… Or hang out with my girlies.
  2. Did you choose your profession or did it choose you? I went to school thinking I would work in Child Protection, but after starting in gerontology, I grew to love it and still do.
  3. What would you do if you won the lottery? Train full-time, become a pro triathlete.
  4. What is your favorite way to relax? Glass of wine and good book.
  5. What is your favorite book? She’s Come Undone by Wally Lamb
  6. What is your favorite holiday? Christmas Eve, dressing in PJs all day, watching Christmas movies, snacking, drinking wine and having a great time with family.
  7. What was the last book you read or movie you saw? Last book I finished was Spilled Milk, last movie I watched was an Alien movie, but the girls got too scared and we had to shut to off!
  8. What are your favorite TV shows? Game of Thrones, West World, and House of Cards
  9. When people come to you for help, what do they usually want help with? Usually stuff at work.
  10. Who’s your go to band or artist when you can’t decide on something to listen to? I have like a million. But I love Rise Against.
  11. What’s something you like to do the old-fashioned way? Baking Pie, well cooking anything in general.
  12. What is something you have only recently formed an opinion about? I seem to be more and more opinionated on politics than I ever was previously.

  17. What do you value in a friendship? Honestly. I have no room in my life for deceit or fakeness. And someone that doesn’t want to play games, I just simply, will not.
  18. What do you say more often in life: yes or no? Depends, I used to struggle a lot with this, it’s much easier for me to say no now though.
  19. What would you tell your teenage self if you could go back in time? Oh so many things… One, those mean girls will mean nothing in your life in your future, so don’t let them hurt you. Two, your body is fine the way it is, be kind to it, stop hating it. Three, don’t trust people that give you reason not to.
  20. What is on your bucket list? This in itself could be a whole other post. I have several other athletic goals on my bucket list, some traveling, swimming with sharks, more hiking of the world, bungee jumping and sky diving.
  21. What is the hardest part about raising children? Always fearing that you are doing the wrong things. Worrying that your choices are wrong.
  22. What do you wish your brain was better at doing? I have friends that can just “read” someone, get a vibe off of them. I wish I had that.
  23. When was the last time you cried? Last Saturday at the hospital, after the bike wreck, scared that they were going to tell me I couldn’t do Chattanooga because of the concussion.

Monday Motivation

Man, what a weekend!

Saturday was a race rehearsal! Which means I am closing in on Ironman Chattanooga. Completed a 6 hour ride, covering 100 miles. The last 24 miles were with a strong headwind. Headwinds are such a mind game for me, my legs are on fire and everything in me in screaming to quit. But when my watch rolled over to 100 miles, I was happy! My run was short afterwards, as I was out of water and it was in the 90s. But I felt good about the entire rehearsal. I feel really confident about my training right now.

Sunday was a shake out run, and although my legs were not loving the idea of a run, they dealt with it just fine, I just keep whispering to them, “we are almost there” and “rest is coming”. (Hey, see my new great running hat, it was a gift from this super neat couple, and I am pretty excited about it!!)

TidBit Tuesday

I have been so busy working my buns off that my blogging has taken a back seat and that is ok! Last week was a heavy training week and my goodness was my body feeling it! The tiredness that comes with the heavier weeks is heavy but knowing that I am closing in on my goal is awesome! This week is a little lighter in the week but longer workouts on the weekend! Only 39 days left until IRONMAN Chattanooga!

This past week I also had some family time and some good times with friends.

Here is a little Tidbit Tuesday:

  1. Have you ever sat by the phone all night waiting for someone to call? Hmm, not that I can think of.
  2. Do you believe that everything happens for a reason? I do, I don’t think we always know right as it is happening, or even for some time, but eventually I think things happen for a reason.
  3. Do you rather follow your heart or your head? My heart, my head over thinks and ruins things sometimes.
  4. Do you snore or steal the covers or roll around in your sleep? I talk in my sleep, I have very vivid dreams, so sometimes I talk. I don’t steal the covers but I like to have a blanket wrapped all the way around me.
  5. Do you consider it more important to be liked or respected? Respected, not everyone will like you, and that’s okay.
  6. What view would you most like to have out of your window? The ocean. I find it so calming.
  7. If you were going to die at midnight, what would you be doing at 11:45 pm? Loving on the girls.
  8. If you woke up tomorrow as an animal, what animal would you choose to be? Hopefully an ocean animal, ideally a whale.
  9. If you could go back in time, once, and change a single thing – what would it be? I wouldn’t. Things shape us, for better or for worse. I wouldn’t change a thing.
  10. Would your life be better or worse, if you knew the time and place where you would die? I don’t know, better to be able to live carefree of things, worse knowing exactly when and where.
  11. What have you done to pursue your dreams lately? How about today? Ironman training! Two hours this morning.
  12. What is the hardest lesson you had to learn in life? People will hurt you.
  13. When you’re 90 years old, what will matter most to you in the world? My children.
  14. If you could write a note to your younger self, what would you say in only three words? It Will Pass.
  15. Are some lives worth more than others? No. I think that each life, has it’s own destiny and own meaning, and good or bad, it’s not for us to judge it’s worth.

Gear Junkie: Stem Caps

The stem cap that came on your bike is probably super simple and not unique to you in any way. Stem Caps are a two piece bicycle headset top cap system, and they are so cool!  Stem Caps are a fun way to add a custom look to your bike. And in my case, be able to look down at your stem cap and have it mean something to you.

And it was super easy to install! Like literally less than 3 minutes!

First, you take off your old stem cap.

Then you screw in the stem cap base.
