Excellent long swim this morning in the river with the mermaid, 2400 yds, times continuing to improve. The smoke lifted, watched the sun rise, across the river, it was spectacular. Then an 11 mile run with Amber. Perfect. Felt great!
Then I had this delicious breakfast. Yes, that’s French toast with ketchup. Yum.
Then grocery shopping, meal planning and my lunches meal prep.
Had to start on more antibiotics, get a rocephin shot, back on steroids, a chest X-ray and am going to have to get a scope done by an ENT. Ugh.
But today was feeling much better. Got a good shorter run in this morning while visiting with Amber and this evening an hour in the saddle of my bike.
And I got this awesome shirt today. Which sadly, is much more fitting than I’d like to admit.
Tomorrow morning, Twila and I are headed out for our second OWS this week in the river. I need all the swimming I can get in the river. The pool just doesn’t cut it… I’d like to get all my training swims done in the river until Black Diamond 70.3, or at least the vast majority.
Still very smokey here in the valley. So I took my training indoors with my bike on the bike trainer. Afterwards did my foam rolling and some good yoga stretching. Does anyone else’s dog stand over them the entire time they stretch and foam roll licking them the entire time?
Also, I started the Ironman University Triathlon Coach certification. It’s such good information, so much information. I’m sooooo excited to apply it to my training!
Also, I made two cool triathlon purchases today!!!
First a shortie wetsuit, which I think will give me the bouyancy and confidence I want in a wetsuit without the restriction and heat of my full suit, perfect for warmer swims and shorter races. It should be here Wednesday, so I’ll take it out for an OWS Thursday morning!
And…. I ordered a “fixie” bike. Meaning it only has one gear. Apparently, this should give you a tougher workout when riding on a flater ride (like my weekday rides) and is a heavier bike, so come race day you’ll feel lighter and faster! I’m super excited for this!!!
What a crazy week, with vacation, all the kids and traveling, it’s been kind of crazy. I’m looking forward to getting back into our routine and the routine that the kids being back in school provides.
Three weeks out from our next 70.3, so really dialing in these next few weeks will be vital. I think my training plan for this week and next will be imperative in not only my conditioning but also my confidence for Black Diamond. Hoping the smoke in the valley and my breathing doesn’t become an issue these next two weeks!
Also, the Ironman University Trithlon Coach program starts tomorrow, so juggling that and the NASM certified personal trainer program could prove to be a little tricky and my time management journal will be all the more important.
Going to be a different sort of week this week. We are traveling to the Seattle for a family vacation later this week and I’m going to have to try to fit my training in around that.
Ive been utilizing a time journal lately as well, to track my workouts, times, meal prep, homework, chores, ect. So this will come in handy the first part of the week while I dial everything in. This is my number one recommendation for anyone that “doesn’t have time”. Find out where your time is going.
By the way, great open water swim today. 2500 yds in 51 minutes (that’s 700 yds further than my longest OWS and about 13 minutes faster!).
It was exactly the encouragement I needed as we sneak up on our next 70.3 in 4 weeks!!!!
