Rubber Chicken Relay Race Recap

image

Thanksgiving morning, it was a terrific 50-ish degrees out. I’ve never run a relay before, but having someone waiting for me totally increased my speed! Amber ran the first and third 2 mile leg, and I ran the second and forth 2 mile leg. All four of my miles were between 8:04 and 8:11. Felt pretty good about it!

Another race in the books! 🙂

Training, training, training…

image

This weeks training was great. Unexpected rest day Thursday, but when I’m exhausted, I’m exhausted. 🙂

My new bike trainer came! Yahoo! I’m so excited to start using it this week!!!

Next week’s training plan:

Monday: CrossFit & Swimming

Tuesday: CrossFit & Bike Trainer

Wednesday: CrossFit & Swimming

Thursday: Rubber Chicken Relay 4miles with Ms. Amber

Friday: Fat Ass Black Friday 5 Mile Run!!

The following week starts my triathlon training as well as preparing for the many, many half marathons in 2015! And today, I registered for my last race of 2014 and first race of 2015, running a 10k downtown Portland at midnight. 🙂 Totally looking forward to 2015!

Turkey Trot 4 Mile Run

image

Fun 4 mile run this morning. It was put on by the local running club. It was sunny and nice out, started out at 51 degrees. Lots of gals that I run with and/or CrossFit with! It was nice to get my run in with these ladies! And tomorrow our running group! Hurray.

On a negative note, my foot was hurting today… It hasn’t hurt since Portland… What the hell?

Veteran’s Day 5k

Apparently, I’ve forgotten to do the recap on this race. Probably because it was freezing and I’m blocking it from my memory. It was 16 degrees at the start of the race. Flippin’ cold. And because of that very few people showed up. And because so few people showed up, I placed 3rd overall and 2nd in my age group. Fun race with a in group of ladies!

It’s Hump Day!

CrossFit in the AM and Swimming in the PM makes me one tired girl in the evening. One productive Hump Day!

And I found these memes and decided to force you to look at them too. You’re welcome.

I Did Not Drown!

Biggest news of the week: I did not drown! So Monday I officially started easing towards triathlon training. A girlfriend of mine and I did our first swimming workout. The local aquatic center lap pool has been drained, so we went to the gym instead. Which I was somewhat nervous about. But it was great! Salt water, it was roughly 80 degrees, and there were no other swimmers in the room! We swam 13 down and back lengths of the pool, which we were told was appx 1/4 of a mile. The sprint length is 1/2 of a mile, so heck, I feel like I may not drown at the actual race either!

Monday morning CrossFit was Fight Gone Bad, which is one of my favorite workouts!

After work, the girls had their CrossFit session.

image

Followed by our swim. And finally a lady date to Big Hero 6. Which was adorable.

Today CrossFit was incredibly exhausting!

And sadly, my bike trainer didn’t show up tonight… So no bike ride as planned… Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Time to Start Thinking About Doing A Triathlon

Seriously contemplating training for a triathlon. So serious in my contemplation that I am selling my beloved spinning bike for a trainer for my road bike. The one I’m deciding on a very small, local, sprint distance triathlon.

image

So looking at several factors… One, training. Two, cost. Three, time.

Training… This is what the beginner schedule worked out to tentatively…
Sunday: Run
Monday: Bik
Tuesday: Swim
Wednesday: Bike
Thursday: Run
Friday: Swim
Saturday: Rest/Races/Family Time

Cost… Not as horrible as I had imagined, at least initially…
Additional gym membership (for swimming), if I go alone, $25/month
Pool Buoy $14
Bike Trainer $70
Bike Cycolcomputer (for using bike inside) $12
Bike Tires (clincher tires and to replace my mountain bike tires) $110
Bike Shoes & Clips $100
Bike tool kit $13
Tri-Suit $93
Transition Towel $25
(And possibly, if I love the first one, a wet suit for the open water triathlon in September)

Time… This seems to be a little more difficult… Maintaining CrossFit, keeping up with my girls, not neglecting my husband, and working…

Sunday, afternoon running group. No problem.
Monday, CrossFit, work from 8am-3:30pm, girls CrossFit, bike trainer at home until Bill gets home. Family time.
Tuesday, CrossFit, work from 8am-5pm, swim one hour for lunch. Home at normal time. Family time.
Wednesday, CrossFit, work from 8am-3:30pm, girls CrossFit, bike trainer at home until Bill gets home. Family time.
Thursday, CrossFit, work from 8am-4pm, running group. Home around the time Bill arrives. Family time.
Friday, CrossFit, work from 8am-5pm, swim one hour for lunch. Home at normal time. Family time.
Saturday, Rest/Races/Family Time

CrossFit maintained ❌
Girls & husband effected as little as possible ❌
Work, 37.5 hours (more than I’m working now actually, ha…) ❌

Now… Just to get back into swimming and not feel like I’m drowning every time… So any triathletes out there, any advice would be appreciated!!

And this little killer was today’s CrossFit WOD. 🙂 I heart CrossFit Rove.
